Ohio
among leaders for foreign jobs
Ohio ranks eighth in the nation for the total number of jobs
created by companies based outside the country, according to new
figures from the U.S. Department of Commerce.
Ten
Fortune 500
companies and Nine
Fortune 1000
companies businesses are headquartered in
the Cincinnati - Dayton Region.

Butler County is a premier location for international companies
considering moving a plant or facility into the heart of the
U.S. market. More than 360 foreign-based companies have
established operations in the Cincinnati – Dayton region.
Butler County is within a one
day drive—600 miles—of 54% of the U.S. population, 53% of the county’s
purchasing power, 54% of the county’s manufacturing facilities,
and 57% of U.S. value added manufacturing. The Cincinnati
– Dayton region's success worldwide is underscored by the
hundreds of firms that are located here that are engaged in
international business.
The region is home to 362 foreign owned companies: Japan
(150); Germany (81); France (32); United Kingdom (31); Canada
(18); Switzerland (12); Netherlands (8); Italy (7); Belgium (5);
Ireland (4); Sweden (4); Taiwan (2); Luxembourg (1); Poland (1);
Spain (1); Portugal (1); South Africa (1); Brazil (1); South
Korea (1); and Hong Kong (1). Some of the world's most highly
regarded companies have a presence in the region including:
Aeronca, Bayer, Cable & Wireless, Degussa, Denso, Faurecia,
Fujitec, Krupp-Hoesch, La Farge, Mitsubishi Electric, NEC,
Pioneer, Rolls Royce, Siemens, Snecma, Sumitomo Electric, Sun
Chemical, Toyota Motor Mfg. - North American Headquarters, Valeo,
and ZF Group.
Butler County is
located 25 miles from both the Cincinnati and Dayton
International airports with direct flights to major world
capitals and is 40 miles from air cargo hubs for DHL, FedEx,
UPS, and Emery.
The county has 11 interchanges on major
interstate highways including I-71, I-74, and major north/south
artery, I-75 and is 30 miles south of major east/west
interstate—I-70. CSX, Norfolk Southern, Amtrak and Conrail serve
Butler County and provide rail service to all major cities and
ports throughout Ohio, the Midwest, and the East Coast. In
addition, the Port of Cincinnati is the fifth largest U.S.
inland port with 52.3 million tons passing annually through
Cincinnati to be moved on the Ohio River.
